2023 year in review

Main content start

The Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship launched as the world's first cohort-based competitive postdoctoral fellowship program in energy. With a focus on cultivating the next generation of energy leaders, the fellowship proudly celebrated its first cohort of 8 energy fellows and their commitment to advancing energy research and innovation.

Energy@ Orientation

The program kicked off with an orientation at Stanford and SLAC, where fellows participated in sessions immersing them in the interdisciplinary landscape of energy research. Workshops and discussions provided insights into the diverse challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

Lab Crawls

The signature Lab Crawl series is where fellows present their work and explore interdisciplinary research within the cohort. Throughout the year, fellows led guided lab tours and discussed ongoing projects, fostering curiosity and encouraging the exchange of diverse ideas and methodologies among peers.

Mentorship

The fellowship emphasizes interdisciplinary mentorship, connecting each fellow with faculty from complementary disciplines, helping them navigate research challenges and build professional connections. Regular socials strengthen the network among fellows, building lasting relationships.

Looking Forward

As the fellowship enters its next phase, it will build on these foundational elements to enhance the experience of fellows. Plans for additional workshops, expanded outreach initiatives, and greater engagement with industry collaborators are already underway.

The inaugural year of the Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship has laid the foundation for an interdisciplinary collaborative community. The program will continue to break new ground in cultivating the next generation of energy leaders.
