About the fellowship

How we started

The Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship was founded in 2022 by Yi Cui, Director of Precourt Institute for Energy. As an academic, entrepreneur, and energy leader, Dr. Cui recognized that the climate and energy challenges we face today will require the brightest minds with interdisciplinary training to tackle them.

From there a new fellowship program was developed to build a vibrant energy community at Stanford focused on developing energy leaders who would collaborate across academia, industry, government, nonprofits, and the community at large to lead the global energy transformation.

Where we're going

Once a STEP fellow, Always a STEP fellow. Stanford Energy Postdoctoral fellows join a lifelong community of thought leaders dedicated to building a global energy system that is sustainable, affordable, and secure for all.

As our fellows mature professionally and each cohort goes on to spread their wings beyond Stanford, the collective contributions of STEP fellows will expand and positively impact our world at increasing scale.
