About the fellowship

How we started

The Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship was founded in 2022 by Yi Cui, then director of Precourt Institute for Energy. As an academic, entrepreneur, and energy leader, Cui recognized that the climate and energy challenges we face today will require the brightest minds with interdisciplinary training to tackle them.

From there, Cui and the Precourt Institute staff developed a new postdoctoral program at Stanford focused on cultivating energy leaders who collaborate across academia, industry, government, nonprofits, and the community at large to lead the global energy transformation.

Where we're going

Once a Stanford Energy Fellow, always a Stanford Energy Fellow. Our fellows join a community of thought leaders dedicated to building a global energy system that is sustainable, affordable, and secure for all.

As our fellows mature professionally and each cohort goes on to spread their wings beyond Stanford, the collective contributions of the growing fellowship will benefit the world and our program at increasing scale.
